This weekend the kids were involved in an art show for our homeschool group and it was so fun! All of the students really put a lot of work into their pieces and it showed. The idea was to choose some form of art medium - painting, sculpting, sewing, etc. Then they selected an artist or piece to study and recreated their work.
Ethan chose Pieter Bruegel's 'Hunters In the Snow.'
Abby chose Georgia O'Keefe.
Olivia just did her own thing while the kids painted!!

I got a little creative myself and gave laundry room door a new look. It was just a flat white prison door that lead from the laundry tomb/room to the garage and it needed help. It was always getting all scuffed up and looking like doo doo. So I decided to use up some of the green paint we had and give it a face lift. Then I painted the inside section with chalk board paint and Kevin added some trim around it. It looks way more interesting and now we have a fun little message center for the kids to draw on and Kevin to leave me dirty messages. Nice.
We also hit the jack pot at World Market in finding a good deal on a new kitchen table. Our old one was too small and we couldn't seat our family let alone have other people over. So I sold it on craigslist and we spent last weekend putting the new one together.
The kids love the bench. It also has a pop up leaf which will be great for family gatherings. Like this Easter!!! We had to rearrange the family room to accomodate the new larger table, but I like it so much better. We're building out the fireplace to hold the tv right now, so I will post pictures of that little project when it is officially done. All in all, we're making good progress here!!!
